Live-in Houseman between Long Island, NY and Manhattan, NY

Compensation: Salary range between from 120K-140K ($35 per hour, OT after 40 hours, $120 per overnight), PTO, medical benefits, 401K etc.


Schedule: Tuesday night to Sunday morning, full flexibility in schedule is required.

Accommodations: Private bedroom and Bathroom . Must have a place to go on days off.

New York based private family seeks a hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy Houseman to work with an UHNW

family. The successful candidate will have, among other characteristics, immaculate greeting skills, excellent cleanliness

standards, organizational skills, and the ability to work with others. Attention to detail, prioritization, and time management

skills are important as are flexibility, honesty, reliability. Houseman will report to the Household Service Manager, work

closely with the Leadership Team, as well as directly with the Principals and their guests.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•     Perform daily cleaning, dusting, mopping, polishing, and washing.

•     Ensure all rooms are guest‑ready and properly maintained.

•     Handle laundry, ironing, and coordination of dry cleaning.

•     Assist with light cooking and formal meal preparation as needed.

•     Provide light service for small gatherings or guests.

•     Manage grocery and household supply purchasing and inventory.

•     Maintain a consistent presence to ensure safety and offer assistance.

•     Schedule and supervise vendors and repair personnel.

•     Perform general indoor/outdoor upkeep, minor repairs, and report maintenance needs promptly.

•     Maintain pool, outdoor furniture, cabana, and grill.

•     Ensure electronics are fully functional and ready for use.

•     Care for the vegetable garden: purchasing plants, planting, watering, and upkeep.

•     Assist with maintenance of bronze sculptures and outdoor features.

•     Receive packages and maintain a delivery log.

•     Answer and direct calls coming through the house phone.

•     Occasionally drive the principals to appointments and errands.

•     Greet family members and guests upon arrival.

•     Perform additional duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of cleaning products and their application/use on museum quality furniture and various surfaces.

  • Knowledge of caring for fine garments.

  • Able to prepare simple meals.

  • Planning and organizational skills for closets, cabinets, and other storage spaces.

  • Ambitious and hard-working; goes the extra mile.

  • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Able to balance and accommodate shifting priorities in schedules, demands and requirements.

  • Trustworthy and discrete, specifically as relates to confidential business and family information.

  • Exhibits positive attitude. Reliable team player with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Given regular daily interaction with staff and others, highly personable, diplomatic, respectful, cooperative, adaptable, and poised.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience working as a housekeeper for a high-profile employer always ensuring 5-star service.

  •  Stellar references from prior long-term employment

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Comfortable going through an extensive background check
