Summer Chef needed in Sag Harbor, NY

Schedule: Mid-June to Labor Day, Four to Seven days including weekends
Compensation: $600 to $800 per day depending on experience and qualifications
Location: Sag Harbor, NY (occasional weekends in Westbury)
About the Family: This kind and respectful family consists of two principals, their four married sons, and grandchildren. Summers are lively with gatherings of varying sizes, including small dinners with friends and larger weekend gatherings with children and grandchildren. The family values clean, healthy, farm-to-table meals and appreciates collaboration in menu planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner, focusing on healthy, flavorful meals.
On normal days, cooking meals will mostly be for the couple.
Occasional dinners for up to 10 people (adults).
Weekends will include meals for children and grandchildren (simple fare) with up to 18-19 guests (not all at once).
Prepare meals for staff, offering the same meals and occasional treats.
Menu Planning: Collaborate closely with the principal to create thoughtful and appealing menus. Recipes will be provided for guidance.
Kitchen Management:
Stock and organize the kitchen, pantry, and snack fridge.
Ensure beverage fridges (indoor and outdoor) are fully stocked.
Use provided car and credit card for grocery shopping and supplies.
Table Presentation: Collaborate with the housekeeper to set beautiful and semi-formal table arrangements for both sit-down and buffet-style meals.
Outdoor Cooking: Utilize the outdoor kitchen and BBQ when appropriate.
Staff Oversight: Manage kitchen staff during meal times as needed.
Household Support: Offer minor assistance in coordinating with workers or service providers when necessary.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role and with excellent references
Culinary Expertise: Strong knowledge of clean, healthy, and flavorful cooking, with a focus on farm-to-table, grilled, and roasted dishes.
Personality: Pleasant demeanor, professional, and clean while working. Ability to thrive in an open kitchen environment.
Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage the kitchen, meals, and supplies efficiently.
Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license to acquire goods for the home.
