Live-out Laundress needed in Long Island NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday,8am-5pm with occasional weekends and some holidays.

 

Compensation: $35 per hour on payroll, plus OT after 40 hours, plus full medical benefits, and 401K, etc.

 

New York based private family seeks a hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy Laundress with at least 5 years or more of experience working with an UHNW family. The successful candidate will have, among other characteristics, excellent cleanliness standards, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Attention to detail, prioritization, and time management skills are important as are flexibility, honesty, reliability.

 

The Laundress will report to, and work closely with, the Executive Housekeeper and Leadership Team as well as directly with the Principals.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron clothing, linens and other fabrics.

• Treat stains and ensure proper care for delicate or specialty fabrics.

• Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and irons.

• Follow care instructions for different fabric types to prevent damage.

• Organize and store clean laundry appropriately.

• Perform minor mending such as sewing buttons, repairing small tears, and maintaining garment integrity.

• Clean and polish shoes, handbags, and other accessories as needed.

• Maintain an inventory of household linens and ensure timely replacement of worn-out items.

• Keep laundry areas clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

• Organize and rotate seasonal wardrobes, ensure proper storage of delicate or high-end garments.

• Adhere to health, hygiene, and safety regulations.

• Handle personal items with discretion and maintain privacy at all times.

• Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned to ensure a clean and orderly environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have at least 5 years of experience working as a laundress for a high-profile employer always ensuring 5-star service.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Prior experience in laundry services and housekeeping

• Knowledge of caring for fine garments: handwashing, ironing, stain removal and steam pressing.

• Ability to handle laundry equipment safely and efficiently.

• Ability to manage a laundry schedule efficiently.

• Physical ability to lift laundry baskets, stand for long periods, and handle heavy loads.

• Planning and organizational skills for closets, cabinets, and other storage spaces.

• Ability to drive and with own car to get to work.
