Compensation: $35-40 per hour, plus OT and overnight pay, plus full medical benefits and 401K.
Schedule: Live-in, Typically 5 days, minimum of 40 hours a week, will include weekends and some holidays. Flexibility in scheduling to meet the changing demands of the family.
We are seeking an experienced Houseman/Facility Manager to report to the Estate Manager and provide superior service to an active UHNW family in Great Neck, NY located on a sizeable estate.
Ideal candidate is a skilled, highly motivated, and detail-oriented professional responsible for the operational management and oversight of the Principal’s primary residences. Working closely with the Estate Manage and collaborate with building managers in city buildings. The Facility Manager / Houseman ensures that all activities, projects, and resources are effectively managed to meet the objectives set by the Estate Manager. This role demands excellent communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams. The Facility Manager / houseman must be highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and committed to maintaining a polished and professional environment for the principal, family members, and guests.
Someone with prior supervisory experience with the ability to manage deadlines, set accountability and high expectations for team members, and create a high-functioning, collaborative work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee the preservation, upkeep, cleanliness, and sanitation of the primary residence and additional properties.
Regularly monitor and schedule preventative maintenance services.
Ensure adherence to safety operation instructions for all equipment.
Implement safety protocols for severe weather disturbances, including daily monitoring of wind gusts, wind direction, and tide levels, and deploying flood barriers and door flood panels as needed.
Manage contractor relationships, including selection, negotiation of services and material bids, and invoice approval.
Monitor and troubleshoot electrical and automation systems, audio/visual and telephone systems, HVAC systems, generator, chillers, elevators, pools, BMS…
Monitor indoor climate and humidity levels, adjusting system settings onsite or remotely to achieve desired comfort levels.
Oversee indoor and outdoor pool care and maintenance.
Manage landscaping and ground manicuring duties, irrigation monitoring, and minor repairs.
Prepare properties for indoor/outdoor events.
Perform hands-on duties in various trade areas, including landscaping, basic carpentry, electrical, housekeeping, and high-end automobile detailing.
Oversee spare part inventory
Responsible for cleanliness of all the outside of the Estate including, power washing, leave blowing, snow removal…
Responsible for all mechanical room’s tidiness and cleanliness
Replace AC filters in between scheduled services as needed
Replace light bulbs throughout the estate as needed
Walk and feed family pet as needed
Drive family members to desired locations as needed
Run errands for family members as needed
Train staff members in the proper care of home, furniture, and fixtures, with an emphasis on delicate surfaces, including gilded and faux painted surfaces, delicate stone, fine glass, and mirrors, as well as polishing fine metals and antique wood.
Train staff members on the operation and basic troubleshooting of various systems, including HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, bowling system, AV system, and snowmelt system.
Job Requirements:
· Minimum of at least 10 years in a private formal home experience.
· Current & clean drivers licenses
· Excellent communication and time management skills
· Familiar with household mechanical systems
· General knowledge of kitchen equipment and household appliance operations
· Must be comfortable around dogs
