Baby Nurse and Night Nurse

Mother-Baby Nurses educate and assist new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the post partum period. Baby Nurses are certified or trained professionals with extensive experience who help parents take care of newborn babies. They perform the dual role of caring for the infants and educating parents about care. A baby nurse helps parents with the transition, guiding parents and family members in everything from effective and efficient ways of breast-feeding to establishing healthy sleep patterns.

In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of a Mother-Baby Nurse include (but are not limited to):  Maintains a comfortable, safe and clean environment for mother and infant; Assists mother with her hygienic needs; Monitors bonding between mother and infant; Monitors mother and infant progress and reports adverse reactions to any treatments or medications being given, if needed; Provides mother with breast-feeding tips; Gives mother bathing and diaper changing tips for infant; Weighs infant; Keeps a log of all feeds and diapers change; Bathes infant; Assist and guides parents and significant others in implementing best practices for infant care; Performs other new born care-related duties in a private setting.

It is not uncommon for a Baby Nurse to stay on in the position and transition into a Nanny role. Most families find it comforting to have their baby nurse to continue on caring for their infants until they are a few years old.

Pay rates vary from state to state or country to country but are usually well paid than the general live in nanny as they are required to work around the clock, 24/7.

History

In the 19th and early 20th century, the position was usually known as a "nurse", and was, as for many childcare jobs, invariably female. Originally, the hired woman would have been expected to breastfeed the infant, a role known as a wetnurse. In a great house (such as an English country house or town house), the nurse was a senior member of the household staff and ran her own domain, a suite of rooms called the nursery, supported by at least one assistant, known as a nursemaid (or nurserymaid). Because of their deep involvement in raising the children of the family, nannies were often remembered with great affection and treated more kindly than the junior servants. Nannies may have remained in the employment of the same aristocratic or gentry family for years, looking after successive generations of children.

LIVE IN NANNY
Typically, a live-in nanny is responsible for the entire care of the children of their employers. This includes all children related duties. Anything from washing the children's clothes and tidying the children's rooms, to supervising homework and preparing children's meals, as well as taking children to and from school and activities. The job may include a separate apartment (sometimes called a "nanny flat") and a car, but most often the nanny is provided a comfortable separate bedroom within the home. A live-in nanny is available 24 hours a day unless their employment agreement states otherwise. A live-in nanny offers flexibility in hours while they live where they work. A live-in Nanny will have all her living expenses paid and provided by the employer. Pay rates vary from state to state or country to country but are usually well paid the same rate as the live out nanny if you calculate the hours of work, minus unpaid eight (8) hours of uninterrupted sleep time.

LIVE OUT NANNY OR PART TIME NANNY

A live-out nanny is responsible for the entire care of the children of their employers. This includes all children related duties. Anything from washing the children's clothes and tidying the children's rooms, to supervising homework and preparing children's meals, as well as taking children to and from school and activities. They typically work a set schedule or a guaranteed amount of hours of work each week. Pay rates vary from state to state or country to country but are usually well paid either on an hourly basis or a weekly salary.

Some families use what is known as a 'nanny share', where two or more families pay for the same nanny to care for the children in each family on a part-time basis.

Elderly Caregiver

Elderly care, or simply eldercare is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. This broad term encompasses caring for elderly in any type of setting: nursing homes, hospice care, and home care. Because of the wide variety of elderly care found nationally, as well as differentiating cultural perspectives on handling elderly care, it cannot be limited to any one practice. Most families prefer the traditional methods of being cared for by younger generations of family members with the assistance of a private Elderly Caregiver.

Elderly care emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity in their own home. It is an important distinction, in that the design of services and activities, that training and such should be truly customer-centered. Pay rates vary depending on the senior's needs and requirements.
